Had a great time today with a group that fished with me last year. Theo and his father along with
12 year old Marcus hit it pretty good today. The wind and tide were not in sync today, but we managed to put 14 trout
in the box. Young Marcus had a great time catching his first keeper trout and topping his grandfather with total number
of fish in the box. The highlight of the day was the cloud cover. We hardly saw the sun today at all, what a relief
from all this heat. Now I'm off for a few days to get some r and r and attend a conference in San Antonio.
I'll be back on the water soon. www.bayfishingadventures.com

After a terribly disappointing day on the water with some very great paople yesterday, I had the pleasure of taking
a guy and his young son out today to try our luck again. We did well out on the channel throwing live croaker.
We boxed a near limit, 19 trout. However, the highlight of the day was the blacktip shark that young Dave caught.
It started by me reeling in my line to net a fish that he had caught. I laid my pole across the front of
the boat with my line still in the water to keep the bait alive. After boxing his fish, I hopped back on the front of
the boat and noticed a small shark swim by. I alerted them to look down at this shark when suddenly he made a sharp
turn, grabbed my croaker and "Swish" my rod and reel were gone. Staring in discuss, I figured I just lost
around $250. About a minute later Dave begins yelling franticly as his pole is doubled over. He reels in his line
and believe it or not, he had snagged my line with the shark still on the hook. I pulled in my rod and the shark and
thankfully congratulated him on his fine catch!
Another unforgetable moment was one of the trout we caught had
no tail. Evidently at some point in his youth he was attacked by a shark or bigger fish.

Fishing today with a threesome in part of a gun club tournament. The winds were light this morning
and we had the privilege of throwing bait, so I headed for the channel side of the jetty rocks. We could not buy a bite,
nor did we see any of the 25 boats in our area hooking up. After wasting about an hour we headed into East Bay.
Shortly after our first stop, we had a few bites and 2 in the box. We made another drift and picked up one
more. We then proceeded to the next reef and after 1 long drift, nada. I was about to head across the bay to another
reef when I decided to give the first place another try, glad I did. As the tide began moving the fish started biting.
We depleted our bait stock with about 18 fish in the box. We got a reload of croakers and headed back to the same
spot. We couldn't get the fish away from us. We had nearly 30 trout on no time and began throwing back anything
that didn't look worthy of the scale. In all we caught around 50 trout retaining the three man limit of 30.
The team missed out on 1st place by less than 1 ounce. We should have fed them another croaker!

Well, somedays you're the windshield and somedays you're the bug. Last night's full moon was like
a flashing neon sign that read "All Night Buffet"! We got on the water at 530 and were fishing at 6.
Throwing topwater baits along the jetty rocks as we have done several times in the past month and we couldn't get a bite.
Not one blow-up all morning. We switched techniques and had 1 rod with soft plastic and another with a spoon while one
stayed with topwater. The best we could come up with was a ladyfish that spit out my spoon as she came flying out of
the water. Every summer I encounter a day or two like this during the full moon. The only solution is to leave
out around four and soak some bait. If the tides were mid-day, you can sleep in and hit the incoming tide aroud 11 and
do ok. I have had to resort to this method before as well. Hopefully we can get some cloud cover to
help us out a little. Hopefully next time will be better. www.bayfishingadventures.com

I hosted a good friend of mine and his brother today. All three of us hooked up on our first cast. I thought it
would be a quick day, but the tide slowed and so did the fishing. We did manage to box 17 trout and 1 flounder by 10
am. Not a bad day by any standard.

The winds picked up today blowing 15 - 20 mph. It wasn't too bad getting out this morning. We began catching fish
as soon as we stopped the boat. We lost a few nice ones, but ended the day with 13 trout and a 28" redfish.
We did manage to keep the streak of 6 straight days without a throwback. The ride in was horrible. I'm thinking
about playing golf tomorrow! www.bayfishingadventures.com

Hosted the Jackson Family today. We started out fishing prtected water near the Texas City Levee,
but saw very little activity and had no bites. We then headed to East Bay where we began slow catching only 2 fish in
the first half hour. Then we went through a school catching 10 fish in about 10 minutes. We turned around for
another drift and it was non-stop. We had 40 specks in the box by 10 am and headed in to look for reds.

Had a last minute phone call from a great guy that fished with me earlierin the year. He and
his sister were down and decided to go try their hand at some bay fishing. We headed straight to the channel and had
a fish on before I had all three lines in the water. We stayed in the same area and althoug we missed more fish than
we caught, they still ended the day with 14 trout in the box by 11. The highlight of the day was seeing a Trpletail
drifting behind the boat. Although I got it to eat the bait, the hook broke off during the short but sweet fight.
Maybe next time.

Not a day to remember, but one I'll never forget! We had way too many obsticles in our way today
to be succesful. My party showed up late, we had all the weekend warriors to contend with and on top of everything else
they were not very experienced. We headed back to the rocks today. Although we didn't land a fish we had several
blow ups which are almost as exciting. When we got into the pocket the fishing was pretty intense. We caught around
10 fish, mostly throw backs, in about half an hour. Then, as luck would have it today, Porpoises began to move in on
all the bait and the trout vanished. We headed into the bay where we caught a couple more throw backs and decided to
call it a day around 1.

Seller's Brothers Tournament today. We headed back out to the channel to find the fish weren't
there today. We made our way into East Bay and found the water a lot better than yesterday. We pulled a few trout
out before switching locales to try to find some redfish. We did manage 1 red before we ran out of bait. We weighed
in 4 trout and a red for a weight of 13.5 lbs. at least we did a little better than yesterday, but not near the top.

Fishing a corporate tournament today, I knew we needed bigger fish than we have been catching.
We headed straight to East Bay. By time the su came up, I realized I had made the wrong decision. The water
was off color and we couldn't buy a bite. I got on the phone and called a buddy. He already had a few fish in
the box. We headed out toward the channel to find him. We began catching fish, but nothing really big. We
weighed in a 5 fish stringer of 11.6 pounds to finish in the middle of the pack.

After such an exciting day on Tuesday, I decided to try it again. I called one of my customers
and asked him to invite a friend. I shut the motor down at the boat cut and began fishing topwaters along the rocks.
I had a blow up on the first cast and a fish in the box within 5. The action was intense to say the least. My
guests were not as acustum to topwater baits so they hsd a little hardeer time at first. I had my limit (10) in
the box by 730 while they only had three each. By 9 we had 22 fish, all on topwaters. We headed to the pocket
and just like yesterday it was alive. The first cast yeilded a fish and we were hooking up on average every 5 -10 casts.
We did have quite a few throwbacks but managed a 3 man limit (30) by 11.

Took a twosome out today. The winds were light out of the southwest so we headed to fish the Bolivar
Pocket. The water was like glass. That's the bad news. Not a sign of any bait much les fish in the area.
We fished for about half an hour without a bite. We headed past the boat cut and began drifting the rocks. It
wasn't long before we began to hook up. We caught about a dozen trout and 2 sharks all on topwaters. We headed
back to the pocket and it was like another day. Bait everywhere blow ups and it didn't take long before we were hooking
up. We shut it down around 1130 with 18 trout in the box, just 2 shy of their limit.
